When The Body Says ‘No’ - How Our Physical Wellbeing Affects Our Mindset
I have a story to share; my story. It’s about feeling “off”, struggling through each day, and finding light at the end of a surprisingly dark tunnel.
For the past year, my outside seemed perfectly normal, but the inside was the exact opposite. I was feeling perpetually exhausted, unmotivated, fighting off stubborn migraines, and feeling low without knowing why. I was on this wild ride, spiraling, not knowing that there was something related to my physical health that was affecting everything else—my emotions, mindset, and spirit.
My physical ailments weren’t just making me feel sick and sabotaging my ability to keep up with my daily activities. They were also messing with my emotions and my mental state. As soon as I started treating that nasty health issue, it wasn’t just my body that began healing—my mindset did too.
My big lesson from all this mess? When our bodies are struggling, our minds and emotions are too.
And while, as a coach, I’m a big believer in the power of our mindset to shape our reality, there’s only so much we can achieve with our mind when the body says ‘no’.
Especially now, with everything that’s going on around us—from war, to politics, to the state of our planet—taking care of our basic needs isn’t just important; it’s essential. It’s not just about pushing through and surviving; we deserve to thrive. Sleeping well, eating nutritiously, and moving our bodies isn’t just physical – it’s emotional and mental nourishment too.
